Overview
The Drone Unit will focus on learning applicable regulations relating to small unmanned aircraft systems, airspace classification and operation requirements, aviation weather sources, emergency procedures, crew resource management, radio communication, airport operations, operation at night, and much more! Cadets will complete the recreational UAV safety test (TRUST) certificate in class. Hands-on activities will include a quadcopter build, fixed wing glider construction, and operation of quadcopters, FPV and fixed-wing remote control aircraft. Successful completion of this course will provide the cadet the knowledge to take the FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot Test.
Prerequisites
- Be at least 15 years old
- Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
- Be in a physical and mental condition to safely fly a drone
To attend this course, you must:
Objectives
- 1. Learn to fly drones
- 2. Get the TRUST certificate
- 3. Master the subjects required to pass the initial FAA aeronautical knowledge written exam: "Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG)”
